I have finally updated the “links” and “work in japan” pages. I hope somebody finds them useful. In other news, I had an interview with another English school that went rather well. The owner is an American who used to be in the IT industry. He was real cool and his school was too, but there was one issue: hair. As he is trying to add new students which include business people, he was unsure if my dreads would deter new clients as they may perceive my locks as unprofessional. He stated that he didn`t have a problem with them, but business is business and some of the older Japanese business people are very conservative. He actually took pictures of me and my hair to show other employees so that he could ask their opinion. I haven`t heard back regarding the results, but I expect an answer shortly.
The funny thing is I met an American here who told me a similar story. He stated that when he came to Japan with dreads a school forced him to sign a contract which included a stipulation about cutting his hair before beginning employment. This is straight wack. How can the dread in Japan cut his hair? Will I have to change the website to “Baldhead in Japan”? Anyways, I will keep the world updated. PEACE–Still dread in Japan.
**update** I am finally moving to Tokyo, but I will not have an internet connection for possibly two weeks. Any new additions to the site will be delayed. Sorry for the inconvenience.
**update** Found a wireless signal, back online. ![]()
