One thing I truly enjoy about being in Tokyo is being able to connect with so many chill people. Almost all of the foreigners I have come across are mad cool. If you see another foreigner on the street (or anywhere), it is no problem to say `what`s up?` and start a conversation. This is something I am not used to coming from Toronto. No disrespect to the peeps back home, but there is definitely a different vibe out here. This is most likely due to the fact that us foreigners all have something in common.
Since arriving, I have had issues connecting with some people though and unbelievably it is the black people. Sure, I have chilled with a some cool black people here, however they are all from America or the UK. Unfortunately, the majority of the black people here appear to be from Africa. I don`t have beef with Africans, but they appear to have a beef with me. I don`t know if there is a language barrier, but some of the dudes here will not even acknowledge a brother. I spoke with some black Americans about this and they said some Africans have issues with the American army people. This is totally understandable, however there are no dreads in the army and I am not American. So if there are any Africans reading this, holla if you see a dread on the street. In the words of Ed OG and Sean Price: Black people unite and let`s all get down, before I slap people tonight….
PEACE.
